About Nick Talks Sports
Hi, welcome to Nick Talks Sports!
My name is Nick Therriault and I write informative articles about professional sports. I sprinkle in some of my own opinions. I tailor it to people on the autism spectrum as a person with autism myself. I started out with a box of hockey cards as a snot nosed six year old and want to give some comparable experiences to people with autism.
How I Became Interested in Sports
I became interested in professional sports starting when I was watching hockey on TV with my Dad and shown a box of hockey cards as a six-year-old. On Canada Day Weekend in 2002 I happened upon my dad watching a CFL game between the BC Lions and Hamilton Tiger Cats and became a fan of the CFL. I thirsted for something with competition during the NHL lockout and started following the NFL and never looked back. I developed an interest in the NBA and MLB as my dad introduced me to what was then the TEAM 1040.
How Sports Has Connected Me to Others
Watching hockey and football games with my dad brought the two of us together because it was a new shared interest which we didn't previously have. Listening to TSN 1040 (nee TEAM 1040) brought us together even further during the 11 years that they had the rights to the Vancouver Canucks hockey team. On the morning of Sportsnet 650's on air debut in Vancouver my dad and I sat in the car and listened to the launch of the new station from our campsite in Crofton in what was our field of dreams moment.
How I got my business idea
I got my business idea from my behavior consultant who is trying to use professional sports to steer her clients away from their morbid fascinations. She doesn't have enough resources as it is that are conducive to teaching people with autism and recommended the business to me for that reason. Being a person with autism myself is an added bonus.
