Why It Matters
After leaving Sunday’s game against the Denver Broncos with an irregular heartbeat Harbaugh will wear a heart rate monitor for the next two weeks. Harbaugh saw a cardiologist on Monday who didn’t recommend a medical procedure but isn’t ruling one out. Harbaugh has previously had ablations which are surgeries to destroy heart tissue that’s causing the irregular heartbeat. Harbaugh left in the first quarter with an atrial flutter which is a type of arrhythmia that causes the heart to beat at an abnormally high rate which he was treated for in the locker room before returning to the sidelines late in the fourth quarter and coaching the rest of the game.
