Lillard was named All Star Game MVP for his 39 point performance as his Eastern Conference team defeated the Western Conference. Winning the three point contest the day before put Lillard with Michael Jordan as the only to players to win a Saturday night event and all star game MVP on the same All Star Weekend. Jordan had won both the slam dunk contest and All Star Game MVP in 1988. The Bucks had traded to the Portland Trailblazers during the offseason to get Lillard.
