The Winnipeg Jets have clinched a playoff spot

Why It Matters

The Jets defeated the league leading Capitals 3-2 in overtime to be the first team to clinch a playoff spot in the Western Conference. The Capitals still lead the League in points with a game in hand on the Jets. Capitals winger Alex Ovechkin scored a goal in the loss to be six goals away from breaking Wayne Gretzky’s all time NHL goals record.
