The NHL has named its three stars of the week

Why It Matters

The first star is Washington Capitals winger Alex Ovechkin. Ovechkin had nine points in four games to power the Capitals to a 3-1-0 week. The second star is Carolina Hurricanes centre Martin Necas. Necas had nine points in three games all of which the Hurricanes won. The third star is Pittsburgh Penguins centre Sidney Crosby. Crosby’s seven points were a factor into seven of the Penguins eight total goals in three games two of which the Penguins won.
