Los Angeles Dodgers designated hitter Shohei Ohtani won’t participate in the home run derby

Why It Matters

With 27 home runs which is second in the entire MLB to this point in the season Ohtani won’t participate in the home run derby on July 15. Ohtani exited the derby in the first round in 2021. Ohtani is recovering from an elbow injury. Ohtani is second behind New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge who has 32 home runs. Ohtani was an all star for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in both 2021 and 2022.
