The Buffalo Sabres have brought back Lindy Ruff as their Head Coach

Why It Matters

Ruff is back in Buffalo for his second stint as their Head Coach after the firing of Don Granato. Ruff has made the playoffs in each of his previous stints as a Head Coach in the NHL whether it was in Buffalo the first time, with the Dallas Stars or with the New Jersey Devils. Ruff had been fired as the Head Coach of the Devils in March. The Sabres went to the Stanley Cup Finals in Ruff’s second year as Head Coach in 1999 where they lost to the Dallas Stars. Ruff was named Head Coach of the Year in 2006 during his first time in Buffalo as well.
