The Tampa Bay Rays are not moving forward with new stadium plans

Why It Matters

Because of hurricanes and costly delays the organization will not proceed with the development of a 1.3 billion dollar stadium in St. Petersburg. 30,000 seat stadium in the historic gas plant district had been met with excitement. The Rays had until March 31 to meet certain conditions including proof that they could meet their 700 million dollar obligation towards the project. Financing delays lead owner Stuart Sternberg to bail on the proceedings.
