Florida Panthers defenseman Aaron Ekblad had his cup day with fans at an Ontario Hockey Arena
Why It Matters
Fans arrived at 6:45 AM for Ekblad’s 8 AM event. Ekblad raised the cup and posed for photos and then lowered it again when he walked along the line. Ekblad was in his hometown of Belle River Ontario a community in Lakeshore on the south shore of Lake St. Clair. Ekblad played rep team hockey in Belle River before leaving to play Major Junior Hockey for the Barrie Colts of the Ontario Hockey League at 15. Ekblad was drafted first overall by the Panthers in 2014 and won the Calder Trophy for rookie the year in 2014-15 and had a career that included losing in the finals in 2023 before winning it in 2024.
